Happy Easter

I have had a few days off from work, so am trying to do as much uni work as possible. It’s hard when there are so many other (more exciting) things to do! But only about 6 weeks left.

I just wrote a poem, and it was inspired by one of the paintings on Pop My Mind.  The picture is of an American Indian sitting at a fire, its so serene..

Ancestor’s fire

The body expires upwards, towards

 the smokeless wastes

the frozen fiords or deserts of states

take expiry from anywhere to any place.

Solitary and alone red sky emits

mists from the soul which

ancestor’s permit.

Fires burning on, offering light

  but no warmth.

Warmth went awhile ago

when bodies expire.

The spacing is a bit weird but otherwise this is my poem inspired by the above painting

what a great fun thing to do…

I’ve been Popped – and I love it!

I’ve spoken about Pop My Mind (PMP) before, but I’m so excited to say that I’ve been Popped!  This means essentially that I perused the PMP site where loads of artists have painted images, writers have written poems etc. etc.

I was inspired by a painting called Shredded.  I thought it was intriguing and it inspired me to write a short poem, short and sweet…

Shredded

It’s also called Shredded

Shredded and broken, lonely and sad

marked for breaking

like –

a silent nomad.

Red is blood, blue is bone

Yellow hurts their eyes

Shredded and alone…

And now someone else Anllelito has been inspired to draw some fantastic pictures.  They are really cool and I am so impressed by picture I just had to write about it.  The feeling that I have inspired another artist to create something is so cool.  I can’t express how exciting it feels.  I’m am beginning to feel a part of the artist and writers community.  I feel that my art and my creations of poems and prose is ‘real’!  I really am a blogger, a writer and a poet and wow, that feels awesome.

This is what they wrote:

Shredded Poem inspired me to do some sketches of a wandering soul. I think of the character as a renegade from a past time that was curse to wander for eternity for his crimes.

And this is what they created:

I mean really how cool is that.  This picture is blooming awesome (said that twice now!).

What has happened to you lately where you feel your creativity has inspired someone else?

A caveat

I also want to add…

I’ve been very lack on my “Liking” of friends, blog friends, etc. efforts  and am feeling guilty.

I promise I’ll soon be finished and won’t know what to do with myself!

There’s just 2 research papers 3,000 words each, 2 15 minute presentations and a 13,000 word dissertation left. Now you see why I’m so bloody busy.

Been a while!

I’ve been busy with uni (only 8 weeks to go) and am madly writing, typing and reading!

I’m also busy with my lovely new job.  It’s been a total blast working in ecommerce with my new colleagues. Don’t get me wrong I still see my old friends from my last office and often have lunch with them. So it’s all good there.

I’ve bought a new blender which is still in its box! That’s how mad it’s been. Still I’ve got nearly half my dissertation and am working on a presentation about ‘identity mimicry’ for Intercultural Communication. Interesting!

I’m off to Cambridge tomorrow evening to take my son to band practice. It’s a long way to go but it’s a birthday thing!

What have you been up to lately? As much excitement as me? Or more??  Woooo!
